The Day of the Triffids By John Wyndham.

The Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham

Finally, I get around to reviewing this book I've been a bit slack in terms of reviewing books or being sociable lately and I do apologise for that, There are reasons and I'm going write a blog post about it but anyway, back to the review.

I don't need to introduce Day of the traffids as I'm sure everyone has heard of it. It's up there with the absolute classics of Post apocalyptic works, It was written in 1951. By the English science fiction author John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris, under the pen name John Wyndham.

The first thing I noticed about this book was how immediately it grips you and pulls you in. The first line hits you thus:When a day that you happen to know is Wednesday starts off by sounding like Sunday, there is something seriously wrong somewhere.

I honestly can't believe this novel was written in 1951! There are little snippets of polite dialect that marks it as a novel from the 50s, but apart from that you wouldn't know. And I loved all the settings as being a brit and a Londoner I knew where the author was taking the characters so to me that was a big plus that kept me enthralled with this book.

I'm trying not to give too much away at all with this book as I really want people to find out for themselfs how awesome this plot is! It's honestly  apart from the Stephen kings "the Cell" One of the most Harrowing post apocalypse stories I've read. And I honestly highly recommend it!
